Yay!
I got flowers at work today! My coworkers and friends from my old branch were so sweet and sent me the loveliest flower arrangement. Janna was right - it was so much better than a gift card! Pictures to follow, if I remember to take some pics tomorrow at work :)

Just a few more days til my fancy Mexican vacation! I am so freakin' ready to not be at work for a week, you have no idea.
I think I've got everything I really need, except maybe a good beach bag and another pair of sunglasses. I am super paranoid that I'm going to forget my bathing suits, though! So if one of the three people who still reads my blog would be so kind as to text me on Friday to make sure I've packed them, that would be great!
In the meantime, other exciting news is that I got a promotion at work! I'm not sure when my starting date will be, seeing that I'll be gone next week, but I'll be going back to my old branch and working as the Lead Teller. The tellers there are all relatively new, which could be a good thing. But from my understanding, most of what I'll be doing is stuff that I already do, so I am not too worried about that. Wish me luck, though! I am admittedly a bit nervous.
Hopefully I'll have the chance to post again before we leave (our flight is Saturday at 6:30am!), but I've got a few busy evenings to get through before I can post. Also, I'm addicted to Farm Town on Facebook, so that's been taking up a lot of my time, too. :) Thanks, Kristin!

Kidney Now!
Tonight, I discovered one of the most wonderful things: The Onion's A.V. Club. I know, I know, they've been around for ages, but for whatever reason, I never checked it out.
I especially enjoy the TV Club, which posts re-caps and opnions about many popular shows, new and old. There's a contributor who's just starting to watch "The West Wing," and I am so tempted to watch along with him. The pilot is one of my favorite episodes because you're just totally thrown into the West Wing with the characters. POTUS crashed his bike into a tree? To the Press Room, CJ! Toby can take down a plane with something he bought at Radio Shack? I don't think so, Tim!
Anyway, for those of you who don't watch TWW, I encourage you to check it out. You don't have to be a Democrat to enjoy it! I do find, though, that it helps you (me) believe in the good in people.
*End of sermon* The AV Club also has a bunch of other really great shows - Buffy, 30 Rock, How I Met Your Mother. They even linked to the lyrics to "Kidney Now!" - check it out!
So yeah, that's my public service announcement for today. I hope you have as much fun as I did!

Chicago, Chicago!
The World's Biggest Model Train Display!
Flamingos at Macy's Flower Show - they're made completely out of flowers!
The extra-large ones were made of feathers, but still! Giant flamingos!
White Sox game! It was SO ridiculously cold there. The temperature hovered around 32-33 degrees the whole night. Brr!
Note the scarves and hat. I put on my hat shortly after I took this picture.

For Kristin
Haaaaaaaaaave You Met Ted? It's got the punchline to The Joke from last night and some insight into what might happen for the rest of this season and next!

Ugh, three weeks without posting. Sorry to any readers I still have! But really, I don't think too much has been happening. No exciting cadet adventures like Kristin, that's for sure! I've mostly been making lots and lots of bridal shower invitations for Jen and for one of my bosses. I'm soooo close to being finished with Jen's stuff, but I just have to motivate myself to get it DONE! The shower is in about 7 weeks, so I think I've got about 2-3 weeks to finish everything, if I really want to be lazy!
I realized, sadly, that I'm probably going to miss fresh strawberry season this year! I really wanted to make strawberry jam, but I'll be in Mexico from June 13 to the 20th, and then the next weekend, Kevin's family is supposed to be coming into town so we can go to Cedar Point! It'll all be terribly fun and exciting, but seriously, ever since I made my end of summer jam last fall, I've wanted to make jars and jars of strawberry jam!
Yeah, so that's what's new. Invitations/card making and sadness over not being able to stand over boiling fruit for hours in June! I am so weird!

Kristin recently suggested that I make a Boombastic Blueberry Explosion Muffin Cake for the Pillsbury Bake-Off. Today, I did! It's quite tasty for home consumption, but it's missing something that could make it a million dollar winner. I've also got some other ideas I want to test this week, provided I've got the time to do it.
In other, totally unrelated news, I've been watching VH1's 100 Greatest Hard Rock songs and damn! I love hard rock! I wish I had made a list of my absolute favorites so I could make a mix cd.
And I made Jen's shower invitations yesterday. I still have to print all of the information on vellum and attach it to the back, but all of the cute decorative parts are done and they are SO CUTE! I will try to take some pictures this coming weekend and post them so you can see my craftiness. Woo!
