American Pie

Monday afternoon we are having an "East Meets West" gathering for our students from the States and Japan. I've been asked to provide some sort of "typical American dessert/snack" to represent the West. I know chocolate chip cookies are pretty typical, but I've never been able to find real chocolate chips here and there isn't enough time to get someone to send me a bag from home. So, I'm asking you, Gentle Reader, what's YOUR favorite "typical American" dessert? I welcome any and all suggestions (or recipes!). I'll let you know how the final product turns out on Monday!
